Our approach

What does “reinforcement-first, balanced” actually mean?

Rewards build the foundation and do most of the work. Once your dog clearly understands a behavior, we may add calm, proportional feedback to help them choose well around distractions. Welfare sets the limits, and we never correct fear.

Do you use training tools?

Sometimes, and only when they're the right fit for that dog. If we think a tool would help, we explain why, show you exactly how it works, fit it properly and get your agreement first. We never use tools on fearful dogs to suppress fear, never use them before a behavior has been taught with rewards, and always plan to fade them out. You're never required to use one.

Will you ever train my dog out of my sight?

No. You're present for or can watch every session, and you'll get written notes after each one. Transparency is a core part of how we work.

Do you work with veterinarians?

Always. Every case starts with a vet check, because pain is a common hidden cause of reactivity. We coordinate with your vet and refer to veterinary behaviorists when medication might help your dog learn.

Getting started

Why do I need an assessment first?

Reactivity has different causes, and the plan depends on the cause. The assessment lets us recommend the right program instead of a one-size-fits-all package. Its cost is credited toward any program booked within 30 days.

What areas do you serve?

In-home sessions across Minneapolis, St. Paul and the Hennepin and Ramsey county suburbs. Virtual assessments and coaching are available anywhere.

My dog has bitten. Can you help?

Often, yes. Please mention it in your intake so we can plan a safe first meeting. For some cases we'll work together with a veterinary behaviorist.

Expectations

How long does it take?

Most families see meaningful change within 4–8 weeks. Behavior change is ongoing, though, and we build plans you can keep using for life.

Do you guarantee results?

No ethical behavior professional can guarantee a living animal's behavior. We do commit to honesty, a clear written plan and real support throughout.

Do you offer board & train?

Not for reactive or fearful dogs. These dogs do best learning with their own people in their own world, and we want you to see and understand every step.
