What is dock diving?

The game, explained

Dock diving is simple: your dog runs down a 40-foot dock, launches after a toy and lands in the pool. The jump is measured from the end of the dock to where the base of the tail hits the water. Distance, Air Retrieve and Hydrodash keep it interesting.

Our 40-ft heated pool sits under a retractable roof, so dock season never ends in Indiana. Every new dog starts on the ramp with a coach in the water, a life vest and no pressure at all.

Wait at the back

Your dog waits at the back of the dock while you walk to the edge.

Throw (or hold) the toy

A well-timed throw pulls your dog out over the water.

Run and launch

A full-speed run and a big jump off the end of the dock.

Splash and measure

Distance is measured to the base of the tail. Divisions run Novice to Elite.

Quick questions

My dog has never swum. Can we try?

Yes. Level 1 starts on the ramp in the shallow end, with a life vest and a coach in the water. Lots of our best jumpers started as nervous swimmers.

What's in the water?

Our pool runs on a gentle saltwater system and is heated to about 80°F all year, under a roof that opens in summer.
