How we sort dogs into cabins

Every camper at Camp Barkley belongs to a cabin, a small play group with its own counselor, its own space and its own schedule. Here's how we decide who goes where.

Size first, then style

Size keeps play safe, but style keeps it fun. A 20-pound terrier who loves to wrestle might be happiest with the Foxes, while a gentle 60-pound Lab who prefers to sniff might fit right in with the Owls.

Chipmunks

Small dogs under 25 pounds, playing in the Rec Hall with low ramps and soft mats.

Foxes

Medium dogs who like chase and sniffing in equal measure.

Black Bears

Big, bouncy players who wrestle with joy and need the most room.

Owls

Seniors and low-key dogs who prefer slow strolls and long naps at Lazy Pines.

Dogs can change cabins. A shy Chipmunk might gain confidence and move up, and a Black Bear might slow down and join the Owls in their golden years. We review every camper's cabin each month on their Report Card.
